Refer to the table below when this system does not function properly. If the problem you are experiencing is not listed
below or if the instruction below does not help, turn off this system, disconnect the power cable, and contact the nearest
authorized Yamaha dealer or service center.

The receiver fails to
turn on or enters
standby mode soon
after the power is
turned on.
The power cable is not connected or the
plug is not completely inserted.
Connect the power cable firmly.

The receiver has been exposed to a strong
external electric shock (such as lightning
or strong static electricity).
Set the receiver to standby mode, disconnect the
power cable, plug it back in after 30 seconds and
then use it normally.
The cable is short-circuited and the
protection circuity has been activated.
Make sure that all speaker wire connections on the
receiver and on all speakers are secure and that the
wire for each connection does not touch anything
other than its respective connection.

The internal temperature is too high, the
protection circuity has been activated.
Wait about 1 hour for the receiver to cool down and
then turn it back on.

No sound Incorrect input or output cable
connections.
Connect the cables properly. If the problem persists,
the cables may be defective.

No appropriate input source has been
selected.
Select an appropriate input source with the INPUT
selector on the front panel (or the input selection
keys on the remote control).
Speaker connections are not secure. Secure the connections.

The volume is turned down. Turn up the volume.
The sound is muted. Press MUTE or VOLUME +/– to resume audio
output and then adjust the volume.

Signals the receiver cannot reproduce are
being input from a source component,
such as a CD-ROM.
Play a source whose signals can be reproduced by the
receiver.
The sound suddenly
goes off.
The timer has turned off the receiver. Turn on the receiver, and play the source again.
Sound is heard from
the speaker on one
side only.
Cables are not connected properly. Connect the cables properly. If the problem persists,
the cables may be defective.

There is noise
interference from
digital or radio
frequency
equipment.
The receiver is too close to the digital or
high-frequency equipment.
Move the receiver further away from such
equipment.
The sound is
distorted.
The volume level is too high. Adjust the volume level.

“CHK SP WIRE”
appears on the
display.
Speaker cables are short-circuited. Make sure speaker cables are connected correctly.
